Intuition: Untitled II is the second work in the Intuition series, which grew out of a period spent in Ólafsfjörður, northern Iceland, and was first shown at Listhús Gallery there in 2017. The series begins with moss, stone, wind, and water encountered in that landscape; where Intuition: Untitled I turned those encounters into an interactive sound installation of sensors, copper, wires, and speakers, this 34-inch sculpture holds the same inquiry in a still, hand-drawn form.
The structure is drawn directly in the air with a 3D pen, line by line, so the hand's pace and hesitation stay visible in the hardened ABS filament. The porous result recalls moss spreading across stones and the accumulated contours of rocks in the Icelandic mountains: dense knots where the drawing lingered, open passages where it moved on. A landscape first sensed through touch and the body returns as a terrain that is both delicate and geological.
Set against the responsive currents of the first work, the sculpture marks the series' other pole — not a system that reacts, but a record of attention that stands still.
〈Intuition: Untitled II〉는 아이슬란드 북부 올라프스피외르뒤르에서의 체류에서 출발한 Intuition 연작의 두 번째 작업으로, 2017년 그곳 Listhús 갤러리에서 처음 선보였다. 연작은 그 풍경에서 마주친 이끼와 돌, 바람과 물에서 시작한다. 〈Intuition: Untitled I〉이 그 만남을 센서, 구리, 전선, 스피커로 이루어진 인터랙티브 사운드 설치로 옮겼다면, 이 34인치 조각은 같은 질문을 정지된 손그림의 형태로 붙든다.
구조물은 3D 펜으로 허공에 한 선씩 직접 그려 올린 것이다. 굳은 ABS 필라멘트에는 손의 속도와 머뭇거림이 그대로 남는다. 다공성의 결과물은 돌 위로 번지는 이끼와 아이슬란드 산지에 쌓인 바위의 윤곽을 떠올리게 한다 — 그리기가 오래 머문 곳은 촘촘한 매듭이 되고, 지나쳐 간 곳은 비어 있는 통로가 된다. 손과 몸으로 감지했던 풍경이 섬세하면서도 지질학적인 지형으로 되돌아온다.
반응하는 전류로 이루어진 첫 작업과 나란히 놓으면, 이 조각은 연작의 다른 한 극을 이룬다. 반응하는 시스템이 아니라, 멈춰 서 있는 주의(注意)의 기록이다.
