Conductive Circles is an interactive sound and visual installation, made and shown during a 4-day KalmaLab workshop at GlogauAIR in Berlin. The workshop opened up the live-performance possibilities of VJ software — MadMapper, VDMX, Syphon, Modul8 — and the work carries that live, hands-on condition into its final form.
Copper structures act as conductive triggers. Because copper carries current, a hand resting on the metal closes a circuit, and that contact is mapped in real time onto the projected visuals: circular forms that light, shift, and respond as long as the touch lasts. The projection is aligned to the physical structures through 3D mapping, so image and object read as one surface.
There is no separate performer. Whoever touches the copper is running the instrument — the installation stays inert until a hand completes it, and the visual circuit that appears is a trace of that specific contact.
〈Conductive Circles〉는 베를린 GlogauAIR에서 열린 4일간의 KalmaLab 워크숍에서 만들어 선보인 인터랙티브 사운드·비주얼 설치다. 워크숍은 MadMapper, VDMX, Syphon, Modul8 같은 VJ 소프트웨어의 라이브 퍼포먼스 가능성을 여는 자리였고, 작업은 그 즉석의, 손으로 만드는 조건을 최종 형태까지 끌고 간다.
구리 구조물은 전도성 트리거로 작동한다. 구리는 전류를 흘리므로 손이 금속에 닿는 순간 회로가 닫히고, 그 접촉이 실시간으로 프로젝션 영상에 매핑된다 — 원형의 형상들이 닿아 있는 동안 켜지고, 움직이고, 반응한다. 영상은 3D 매핑으로 실제 구조물에 정렬되어 이미지와 사물이 하나의 표면으로 읽힌다.
별도의 연주자는 없다. 구리에 손을 대는 사람이 곧 악기를 구동하는 사람이다. 설치는 손이 회로를 완성하기 전까지 침묵하고, 나타나는 비주얼 회로는 그 특정한 접촉의 흔적이다.
