Ultrasonic sensors read the distance of the viewer, and an ordered image and sound collapse into glitch — an installation that treats noise not as error but as an audiovisual language.초음파 센서가 관객의 거리를 읽고, 정돈된 화면과 사운드가 글리치로 무너진다. 노이즈를 오류가 아닌 시청각 언어로 다루는 설치.
An installation on the tension between a perfectly governed system and the collapse that is built into it. The moment ultrasonic sensors register the distance of a viewer, an ordered image and sound distort into unpredictable digital glitch and rupture.
The interaction does more than display a malfunction. It makes the observer aware of already being part of the noise that disturbs the structure.
Noise and light proliferating beneath a rigid system act as atypical symptoms resisting controlled order; meeting the chance interventions that disturb the circuit, they produce an unpredictable creative rupture. These non-linear fragments, born of "intended error", open a fissure in the smoothly domesticated surface of perception and bring the viewer face to face with raw sensation outside control.
Shown as one of ten artists in the 13th Media Art Group Exhibition Bitjang — Noise, organised by VSLAB. The exhibition took noise as an inquiry into the boundary between digital sound and visual art; this work answered with sensors and glitch.
완벽하게 통제된 시스템과 그 이면의 필연적인 붕괴 사이의 긴장을 다룬 설치. 초음파 센서가 관객의 거리를 감지하는 순간 정돈되어 있던 화면과 사운드는 예측 불가능한 디지털 글리치와 파열음으로 왜곡된다.
이 상호작용은 기계의 오작동을 보여 주는 데 그치지 않는다. 관찰자인 우리 자신도 이 견고한 구조를 교란하는 '노이즈의 일부'로 이미 관여하고 있음을 자각하게 한다.
견고한 시스템 이면에 증식하는 노이즈와 빛은 통제된 질서에 저항하는 비정형의 징후로 작동하며, 회로를 교란하는 우연한 개입을 만나 예측 불가능한 창조적 파열을 일으킨다. '의도된 오류'가 빚어낸 이 비선형적 파편들은 매끄럽게 길들여진 지각의 표면에 틈을 내고, 통제 밖의 날것 그대로의 감각과 직면하게 만든다.
VSLAB이 주최한 제13회 미디어아트 그룹전 《빛장 — Noise 노이즈》의 열 작가 중 한 사람으로 참여했다. 노이즈라는 개념으로 디지털 사운드와 시각 예술의 경계를 탐색하는 자리였고, 이 작업은 그 질문에 센서와 글리치로 답했다.
