Inspiration from Iceland: An Artistic Journey grew out of a residency at Listhús in Ólafsfjörður. Across the almost treeless volcanic terrain, moss spread in slow, densely woven patterns over stone and earth. Touching these surfaces, I encountered the landscape not as a distant view but as an organism with its own time, density, and quiet resilience. The contrast between the stark openness of the ridges and the minute textures under the hand shifted my understanding of pattern: it became a record of weather, growth, and duration.
During the residency, I made field recordings of the site's wind, water, and ambient textures. These recordings, together with the tactile memory of the terrain, became the starting point for Intuition: Untitled I and Intuition: Untitled II. Through touch-responsive interaction, the works translate an encounter with Icelandic nature into sound. A visitor’s hand activates a listening experience in which contact, distance, and movement become ways of sharing the landscape’s quiet intensity.
《아이슬란드로부터의 영감: 예술적 여정》은 올라프스피외르뒤르의 Listhús 레지던시에서 시작되었다. 나무가 거의 없는 화산 지형 위로 이끼는 돌과 흙을 따라 천천히, 촘촘한 패턴을 이루며 번져 있었다. 그 표면을 손으로 만지며 풍경은 멀리서 바라보는 장면이 아니라, 고유한 시간과 밀도, 조용한 회복력을 지닌 하나의 유기체로 다가왔다. 능선의 거친 개방감과 손끝 아래의 미세한 질감 사이에서 패턴은 날씨와 성장, 지속의 시간을 기록하는 방식으로 새롭게 읽혔다.
레지던시 기간에는 그곳의 바람과 물, 주변의 공기에서 들리는 소리를 직접 채집했다. 현장 녹음과 지형을 만졌던 촉각의 기억은 〈Intuition: Untitled I〉과 〈Intuition: Untitled II〉의 출발점이 되었다. 터치에 반응하는 인터랙션을 통해 두 작업은 아이슬란드 자연과의 만남을 소리로 옮긴다. 관객의 손길은 접촉, 거리, 움직임을 통해 풍경의 조용한 밀도를 함께 듣고 느끼는 경험을 만든다.
